If you need a durable and portable Bluetooth speaker this is a strong choice. It is great for camping, hiking, backyard get togethers, walks, emergency use, home use, office use and more.Aesthetics:This device is obviously designed to look like a retro camping lantern. A camping lantern wouldn’t be my first choice but the design has grown on me. Honestly, I think itmakes the product more functional and portable and that’s why I don’t mind the look now. Having the ability to grab the handle on top and carry it with me somewhere and hang it on a hook or tree is very handy. Most of the weight is in the bottom of the speaker so it isn’t top heavy and is very stable. I chose the matte green color because I knew the white wouldn’t last a day with me. I really wish they’d offer this in black but the green has grown on me.Durability and Quality:I’m impressed with the build quality. The main housing is metal and made to last. The leather strap handle is perfect for carrying or hanging, but you can quickly remove it if you prefer. The sealed LED lamp unit and rubber cover over the ports help maintain the IPX5 waterproof rating. The only area I worry about is the rubber flap protecting the ports. I only mention that because I’ve had that area fatigue and break with repeated use on similar products. Once the hinge or mount breaks off you need to be very careful not to lose the cover or the ports will be unprotected and much more susceptible to issues from water.IPX5 Waterproof rating:This waterproof rating means it can handle water jets sprayed from any direction. It is protected from water ingress from splashes, light rain and spills just fine. Obviously it shouldn’t be fully immersed in water. The X portion of the rating is the dust protection rating, with X meaning the device hasn’t been tested or rated for dust protection.I use this in my workshop and it works great for that. I simply toss a plastic cover on it if I’m worried about sawdust or other dust problems.Lamp:The LED lamp offers varying color and brightness levels with 5 different lighting modes. The lamp puts out adequate light but there are times when I wish it could be a little brighter. It’s more than enough to light up a work area, tent, hiking trail, and more. I’ve even grabbed it to work under the car.Bluetooth:Bluetooth works great on this. I have no issues moving around our backyard or around a two car garage with it. It connects fast and once connected it has been rock solid. I do find the little guitar riff sound it plays when it connects a tad annoying but that’s no big deal. It is better than the distorted and garbled “Bluetoofth Connecfthed” sound that has cracked me up on other Bluetooth speakers in the past.Sound Quality:The 30 Watt output sounds great for a compact design. It honestly sounds much better than I was expecting. It’s a tiny bit bass heavy out of the box by default but it sounds good. You can adjust the volume by turning the knob around the compass clockwise or counterclockwise. I use this mostly in my workshop, and at max volume it is loud enough I can usually hear it over the drill press or shop vac with hearing protection on which is nice.Battery Life:I haven’t tracked the battery life to the minute but I can tell you it lasts many hours when used mainly as a speaker. I’ve been using this for about a month and a half and I’ve charged it once. I’ve listened to many hours of podcasts and music while working so the 9600 mAh battery life seems as claimed. If you use this as a lamp on full brightness while listening to music at full volume you’ll obviously drain the battery faster.Features:This small design packs a ton of features. You get a nice sounding Speaker with Bluetooth or audio cable/line in connectivity. You can use this via Bluetooth or an audio cable plugged into a device’s headphone style audio out port. There’s also a 5V 2.1 A DC Out USB A port so you can use this as a portable battery bank to charge your phone or other device. That’s a very cool feature. It doesn’t give off the high end “gift” vibes they seem to imply.- Only comes in green or white at the moment.So far I’m very pleased with this device. I’ve been using it daily with no issues at all. I’m very impressed with the durability, sound quality and battery life. Considering the quality and list of features, I consider this a very good value.
